Bhavana has born on 6th June 1986 as Karthika Menon in a Kerela Nair family, Bhavana is the daughter of Pushpa and assistant cinematographer G.Balachandran Menon. Bhavana has a brother named Jayaddev who lives in Vancouver, Canada.

Bhavana debuted in Nammal, a Kamal's film opposite Siddarth, Renuka Menon and Jishnu. The film Nammal was a big success and she got several offers in Malayalam. She also won the numerous honours and Kerela State Special Jury Awars for the film. Bhavana was studying 11th class when she got the break in the films. She has acted with most of the actors in Malayalam like Suresh Gopi, Mohanlal, Jayaram, Mammooty and Dileep. She debuted in Tamil with Chithiram Pesuthadi with the Malayali actor Narain, which was a great success.
